Bear sanctuary „Belitsa“

This park is entirely new construction and has the goal to provide readaptation to freed dancing bears. Universal stroi consult OOD is the main contractor in the project. The park for bears is in southern range of mountain Rila, in the area Adrianov chark, 12km from Belitsa, Blagoevgrad oblast and 180 km from the capital Sofia. The terrain has an altitude from 1200 m to 1345 m. The park is composed of 2 parts, connected with safety bridge with a length of 30 meters. The first part was opened back in 2000 and covers an area of 1.2 hectares, the larger second part was opened 2004 with an area 8.4 hectares. Together with surrounding parts the total area of the park amounts to 12 hectares. The construction was completed in the short span of 12 months.
